Moving on!!

Not all pop art is the same! Its not what it visually shows but what the meaning is behind the picture.

Signs Discipline and Pictures Educate. This means that in a picture or piece of art many meaning can be drawn out of something that is not a word or phrase. That is why pop art was kept simple because on a large scale it could mean a lot of different things to a wide range of people.

When Pop Art became to get more popular more artist started to create relevant art. A good piece of Pop Art from my view is a piece created by Jasper John; the Bullseye. This had rings around the centre circle but when looking at the target you only concentrate on one thing, which is the bullseye and the rest is ignored. What he was trying to say is that all the picture is important because without the outer circles the middle would not be as highly viewed.

Overview on Pop Art:

Pop art was art shown in the mass media and was produced on a large scale, it showed that anything could be seen as art and that the workng class could have the luxury to go out and purchase it! It  started mainly in New York with upper class people being able to afford very  well known art which left the public out of it. The art movement flourished the UK in the 1950's but was more vividly seen in the US when artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol where being recognised.
